It´s time to celebrate the very first birthday of my Piia Myller Design website! How awesome is that! What better way to celebrate it than to organize PMD´s very first GIVEAWAY. Because of the upcoming Valentine´s Day the prizes are in twos. You and your friend have an opportunity to win tote bags and plastic keychains with my new print Sisin (Core).

You can take part by commenting here (or in my Facebook page) or just send me email (designer@piiamyller.fi). Don´t forget to include your own email address so I can contact the lucky winner. Also remember to share this with your friends! You´ll have time to participate until 14.2.2014.

I´ve had this weird fascination with internal organs, bones and such for some time now. I guess it started years ago when I flicked through some old anatomy books with awesome drawings and saw the inner beauty.

One night I couldn´t get any sleep so I started going through some of my old drawings. A few stood out from the crowd and I began merging them together in one drawing. This is what came out: a print called Sisin (Core). While creating it I felt sort of a pressure in my chest, a huge urge to take a deep breath, to turn things inside out, to see and feel what lays beneath the surfice, to grow something new from what you already have. For me Sisin depicts all that. Everyone is free to make their own interpretations or just see the visual side of it.

Yet again I have to say thank you a million times to Esa from Olavi Creative for creating PMD website!!!

Where does Headwing hang out when not being flown around Joensuu on my shoulder? Well, it has it´s own special place in my appartment where it keeps an eye on my jewellery and a pile of some inspirational fashion magazines.

I´m finally allowed to shout about my fellow designer´s NEW WEBSITE!! Anu (who is a dear friend of mine) now has her own website to show of her talents in clothing, textile and jewellery design. How awesome is that?!

The credit goes to Esa from Olavi Creative. And yes, it´s the same mastermind that´s also behind my website design. Absolute greatness once again!!

I want to show you something I´ve been working on this summer. Among a few other projects I have created a Circus -leather jewellery collection for a local textile company Hañhi Design. I used Hañhi´s own vibrant, colourful and fun prints as basis for the designs. Here are some pics of the creating process. (I´ll post pictures of the finished products tomorrow.)

glovescolouringcolours_leather3colours_leatherI have actually worked with Hañhi Design before. Here and here you can see some things I managed to create from tiny left-over pieces of fabric, useless objects found from Hañhi´s shelves and boxes etc.

Note that Hañhi Design will be taking part on Forma Fair, section 6H19 (a Finnish interior decoration and giftware fair for professionals held in Helsinki).
